RMX is a collection of remixes of each track from Manchester trio GoGo Penguins self-titled album which came out via Blue Note Records last year. It’s built around a simple concept - enlist some of their favourite artists and producers to reimagine their work, and they’ve assembled quite an incredible lineup in doing so. The results, as you’d expect, are wildly varied in the way they approach the original. James Holden reimagines ‘Totem’ into a yearning, cinematic ambient number, Machinedrum takes ‘Atomised’ into jazzy dnb realms whereas Squarepusher retains the downtempo spirit before launching into glitchy oblivion on ‘F Maj Pixie’.
