James Ruskin’s Blueprint Records gets its due for reinventing the landscape of electronic music back at the label’s inception in 1996. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Ruskin himself kicks off a series of discs of typically flawless techno from the imprint’s biggest players. Shortcut glides across brain-rattling deep house, pitch black rhythms and rugged experimental touches — partially where the electrostatic synth dirge closer ‘Drum Eyes’ is concerned.
