When Alan Vega passed in 2017 at the age of 78, his wife and long-time collaborator Liz Lamere set to begin excavating the vast archives of work he had gathered over his sprawling, celebrated and prolific career. Created and recorded in tandem with Liz at their NYC studio in 1995-96, it was never fully finished and mastered (such was Vega’s work ethic, he’d already moved onto the next one). At long last, the original session tapes have been committed to vinyl for the first time - Mutator chronicles the sound and tension of 90s NYC in his inimitable DIY techno noir.
