Having scooped a ‘Best Original Score’ nomination back in the 2014 Academy Awards, cementing its status as one of the best soundtracks of the decade, it’s a mystery as to why it took seven years to formally release Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett’s score to Spike Jonze's Her. The longtime Canadian indie rock collaborators find a cinematic sweet spot between classical, electronic and post-rock for this release, setting droning synths and organs against percussive chimes and sparse guitar leads. The melding of organic and electronic matches the film’s themes of love and technology to a tee.
