More than a decade into crafting some of the most melodic techno and electro in the game, Lee Norris aka Metamatics joins Lapsus Records’ Perennial series with an overdue remaster of his timeless debut. Originally composed of four EPs’ worth of material, the breaks and grooves of A Metamatics Production breathed new life into electronic music upon its release in 1997, finding subtle new ways of making tones of acid and drum n bass sing. His use of horn-based samples crackle and whirr on the placid ‘Blue Water’, while tracks like ‘Skunk Me’ and ‘Repeater’ find gorgeous synth counterpoints to their rambunctious breakbeats.
