Steve O’Sullivan gets a long overdue look-in on the seminal minimal techno tracks he cut for his own Green imprint between 1995 and 1999, just before closing up shop after six releases. The cream of the Sheffield producer’s crop is finally compiled into one compilation for Nina Kraviz’s Trip label, with each track’s untitled name replaced by the word ‘green’ in a different language. The wafer-thin tones of green trax belie the immense power of O’Sullivan’s technical prowess; rhythms skip and slither into a hypnotic swirl of sound reminiscent of Basic Channel and the Detroit school of techno.
