Bass music chameleon Om Unit continues to keep us on our toes. Acid Dub Studies is a turn away from the slow-fast drum & bass which defined his ‘10s output, and a return to the tender exploration of early Om Unit records. As the name suggests, Acid Dub Studies is a 303-heavy blend of classic dub reggae, dub techno and ambient. The influences of Adrian Sherwood’s mixing techniques and Deadbeat’s introspective moods are clear to see, and surely also Andreas Tilliander’s TM404 project.
