For a smattering of recordings formed throughout the 1980s, there’s a refreshing feeling of timelessness across this collection of Tiziano Popoli tunes. Burn the Night / Bruciare la Notte showcases the Italian producer’s early innovations in transforming electronica from a dancefloor concern into a mode of limitless possibility. The multiple sides of Popoli are here represented, notable in the askant avant-grooves of ‘Se Son Rose Fioriranno’ and ‘Svelf’, and transformed by the presence of didgeridoo drones and woodblock-organ ambience of ‘Mimetico Erettile’. There’s a little bit of everything in here — ‘fourth world’, electronic, ambient, to name only a few.
