A decade after its initial release, Matador’s repress of Kurt Vile’s halcyon years record — named Childish Prodigy, as if Vile was prophetically aware of the kind of artistic pedigree he’d soon be branded with — is a reminder of just how far the Philadelphian musician has come. His wares are fuzzed out around the edges (and more so than usual), complemented by direct songwriting that still goes remarkably unchallenged years later.
