Known as a kind of cottage industry working for the secret order of Sweden’s outsider dancefloor inhabitants, Höga Nord Rekords stand and deliver with this Timothy J Fairplay 7”. It’s a techno record for sure, but Fairplay’s disc gives off a menacingly nuclear glow; ‘Pathfinder Theme’ is a bullish swaggerer bringing to mind the icy horror score synths of John Carpenter being remixed by Patrick Cowley, while the b-side cut ‘UFOs Over China’ ups the tempo for a driving lo-fi electro feel, sounding like the theme to a pulpy cold war espionage movie that Legowelt would be proud of.
