The Paradox is the product of a series of spontaneous jams between Jeff Mills and Jean Phi Dary, initially born out of jams with the legendary Tony Allen and Tomorrow Comes The Harvest. Part of a series, Counter Active is the first installation. Recorded without any computer or midi involvement, it sees Mills manning the electronics whilst Dary provides shimmering key variations on a variety of instruments. The result is a kind of deep, avant-techno recorded in real time. Far from falling into loopy filter-tweaking, it’s full of dramatic twists and turns, showcasing two masters of their craft in complete synchronicity.

Recorded at Studio Ferber, One Two Pass It, Midilive Studios, Paris Studio Engineers: Guillaume DuJardin (Studio Ferber), Laurent de Boisgisson (One two pass it), Hugo Bracchi (Midilive), Mixing Engineer: Steve Kovacs Co-Mixing Engineer: Jeff Mills
