Scene legend since 1991 Ron Wells aka Jack Smooth can’t help but make a banging analog acid tune — and naturally, PH Scales 2 is loaded with the good stuff. The tones are rounded and viscous, the hi hats and snares are crisp and the vibe is set to a firm 3am glow. Among the banging lot is some trademark Smooth tension and release on ‘So Deep’, and a hard hit of amen break manipulation on ‘Throw A Six’.
