Who knew outsider musicians could sound this accomplished? Sexual Harrassment (deliberately misspelt) was a conceptual project consisting of non-musicians which instead pulled a sharp focus on image, a rallying embrace of the “sex sells” credo — and sell it did. ‘I Need A Freak’, with its punkish disco swagger and X-rated content, was a surprise hit. The rest of the LP is just as filthy, delivered with all the self-assured gusto of Prince, and in a weird way, RuPaul.
