Coming to you from the folks behind RAP and Enchante, freshly minted label Wai One departs from chipper house sonics to deliver a crepuscular affair from Leeway. The project’s debut Vibe Collins EP doesn’t disappoint with its grizzled mix of dub, sound design and more than a hint of the industrial dark stuff. ‘Muggy’ opens up on busted bass and beats that sounds like a barbed wire fence, as the title track weighs in on the rhythmic abominations within the high security compound. ‘8 Bar Dub’ is markedly different to the others, a kind of worn dub tune straight out of Actress’ Ghettoville, soaked in a kind of ghostly glow.
