Flørist straddles ambient, 160BPM club gear, dub techno and bass music on Intermedia 1, switching moods in the blink of an eye. The Berlin-based Canadian draws from a global perception of club music, pitching disparate influences together in a way unique to himself. The sound palette is dimly-lit and the execution is hypnotic, always taking alternative means to its end. Out of nowhere, flashes of sound push the envelope, like the high-pitched bassline on ‘Untitled 2’.
