Freezing-point electro from Reykjavik. Bjarki’s label bbbbbb presents its second EP from Kuldaboli, Ekkert nema ískaldur veruleikinn. Translating to “nothing but the ice cold reality,” the title vividly describes the music’s haunting beauty. It’s spartan and clinical, but not without a sense of adventure. Kuldaboli layers eerie spoken-word passages amongst the whiplash percussion and spring-loaded basslines. With or without knowledge of Icelandic, the effect is profound.
