Following up an extensive reissue series of earlier albums from her discography, Awesome Tapes From Africa celebrate the four decade-spanning career of Malian singer Nahawa Doumbia with a new collection of East African pop tunes. Kanawa sees Doumbia stick to her guns by reflecting on the current state of Mali, offering reflections on immigration experiences and pleas for wider understanding through a vibrant concoction of traditional and modern instrumentation.
