Having switched gears to move at the 170 bpm benchmark on Samurai Music in 2019, Dozzy’s opening gambit with The Tao is the rapidly accelerating rhythm of ‘Mai’, seemingly moving outside of lock-step and into further realms far off grid. ‘Dusty Bones’ similarly tickles the faster end with restless toms and billowing swells of bass, later descending into a flurry of discordant screeches.
