Every seven years the mighty Portland/LA stable Italians Do It Better release a sampler entitled After Dark. Featuring production credits from label owner and artist in his own right Johnny Jewel, it features label favourites like Desire, Chromatics and Farah as well as acting as an opportunity to blood new talent. True to their by-now-well-established signature sound, it’s a striding collection of killer arpeggios, Italo-drenched synth melodies and VHS-saturated emotive breakdowns. Jewel’s tenure in Glass Candy seeps in too, with acid soaked chords and a wavy 80s aesthetic present throughout. The future-rnb of Resurrection is a particularly killer moment.
