Nkisi launches INITIATION, “a new series exploring the hidden phantasmagorical properties of rhythm... a secret drum language only understood by the initiated.” A ten-minute epic, ‘The Truth Is Everywhere,’ is the modus operandus for the new label. Its orchestral ambience and expansive arrangement are paired with blistering kick drums, typifying the stark contrasts and primal energy of Nkisi’s music. As the Congolese-born, Belgian-raised Nkisi fuses her polyrhythmic sensibility with a love for the sheer force of 90s rave music, she pulses with highly-charged signal buzz and lightning flashes of abrasion.
