The eternally forward-thinking Hessle Audio trio continue to showcase the best of the UK’s abstract techno mutators. Laksa’s releases on Timedance, Ilian Tape and Whities have marked him out as a prime Hessle candidate, and he delivers. Fire Kit is straight out of the Bristol school of ground-shaking bassweight, armoured percussion and syncopated rhythms. The execution is cerebral and unafraid of stop-in your-tracks turns. Laksa’s blend of raw, unshackled energy and alien voices in ‘T’s Tent’ feels like it’s about to bubble over, but he has the dosage bang on.
