Surgeon’s Girl’s debut EP continues the sonic renovation of Livity Sound in fine style. The stone-cold, soundsystem pressure that long defined Peverelist’s label is still present, but Surgeon’s Girl submerges it below a foam of glistening, pitch-bend synth notes. Taking cues from the likes of Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith or Buchla pioneer Suzanne Ciani, she has struck on a potent combination of soaring leads and loosely-tacked percussion. A Violet Sleep will add rays of light to a DJ set or transport your mind at home.
