The Salicylic Acid and Flight Stimulator EPs were released by P.A. (Peter Aarsman, also known as P.A. Presents) in 1993 and 1994 respectively. Reissued here as a single LP, both records deliver the sort of stirring techno thrills that still hit the sweet spot to this day.

Bar the exception of Salicylic Acid’s closer ‘Ducking’, both records are reproduced in full here - with their titles flipped to be Flight Acid/Salicylic Stimulator respectively. Salicylic Acid was the debut drop from P.A., and the tracks serve as a perfect introduction to Aarsman’s sound. The record opens up with the fifteen-minute epic ‘Mesomorph’, a cut which has the hypnotic qualities of minimal techno but also delivers high-energy drums throughout. ‘Pop’ and ‘Vera S.’ evidence a similarly unusual approach to acid techno, their basslines churning and spluttering as the beats roll on, while there is a strange euphoria to the rising synths of ‘Theme’.

A playful approach is also apparent on the tracks from Flight Stimulator. P.A. conjures up similarly unusual versions of acid-techno on ‘Vexillum’ and ‘Flight Stimulator’ itself, and the more expansive tones of ‘Experiential’ and ‘A Grasp’ strike a fine balance of strange sonics and pure dancefloor goodness. Those who cop the digital edition of Flight Acid/Salicylic Stimulator will be treated to bonus beat ‘Long Metal’, a piece of spiralling psychedelic minimal techno which Aarsman produced in the 90s but has never been released prior to now.

Utrecht techno veteran P.A. Presents (Peter Aarsman) finds his two earliest records brought together on this new U-TRAX Records drop.
