Calling Jonny Dillon, AKA Automatic Tasty, a synth enthusiast would be a gross understatement. He has a midas touch, mining a seemingly endless source of fresh ideas from his classic gear. On The Future Is Not What It Used To Be, his return to Central Processing Unit, Dillon is in top form. His vocoder-treated voice, retro synth lines and warm percussion melt into what the label call “contemplative electro-boogie.” You can almost feel him vibing in the studio through the off-kilter, jammed-out feel and eccentric touches. Fans of Space Dimension Controller and the likes will love this one.
