Top Tape return to the overlooked experimental electronics game with a marvellously forward-thinking disc from Amsterdam, 1983. Little is known of Robby Horsfall and Menko Konings, save for some vague connections to the European underground, but their brilliant synth manipulations as No Honey From These have since transcended the real into the realm of myth. Rediscovered 25 years after its initial recording, The Twelve Secret Hometape Sessions contain nuggets of funky, sample-driven playfulness and, often, staggering beauty by the slightest means — see ‘Five’ for an outstanding example — all wrapped in the warm blanket of lo-fi, post-punk fuzziness.
