Recorded during an unbroken run of live performances in Cairo, Egypt during December 1971, Dark Myth Equation Visitation is one-third of a triad of astounding releases by Sun Ra and His Astro-Intergalactic Infinity Arkestra. Drawn to the Egyptian capital after extensive research into ancient African kingdoms, Sun Ra leads his band into some of their most fearsome and formidable work, by turns frantically free-wheeling on the likes of ‘Cosmo-Darkness’ and ‘Solar Ship Voyage’, and full of muscular melody and rousing heights on ‘The Light Thereof’ and ‘Friendly Galaxy No. 2’.
