London techno producer Kirk Degiorgio goes incognito as Templefeld. Although we can’t say for sure why Degiorgio has ditched his long-running As One alias for this disc, it’s clear that a kind of subtle stylistic change is going on here; the ambient techno cadence of Degiorgio’s early work is present in the pads and synths of ‘Day of Reckoning’ and ‘Vertical Life’ (shining through even stronger on Anthony Child’s droning remix of the latter), but a hard-hitting and menacing breakbeat swagger informs the deep bass wub of ‘Titan’.
