A musician and producer with a penchant for expressing the diaristic in verbally-sparse yet densely rich electronic music, Emily A. Sprague springboards from the field-recording journal of Water Memory / Mount Vision into vibrant Laurie Spiegel freeform synthesis with Hill, Flower, Fog. The title is an apt descriptor for the botanical nature of the LP, a kind of sonic guide book to a ramble across a heather-coated landscape. Dappled and droning mood pieces like ‘Woven’ rise to a lively ambient swell, while the dancing tones of ‘Mirror’ are permitted to weave a lush, electric pastoralism throughout it’s near-10-minute runtime.
