Inspired by the geographic formations of the volatile Cascadian coastal mountains, coast/range/arc// sees experimental ambient free-thinkers Loscil and Scott Morgan emulate the natural world in all its fluidity, finding both staggering beauty and unfathomable horror. Ever the masters of removing themselves completely from the producer-musician equation, the vast, roving soundscapes of ‘Black Tusk’, ‘Fromme’ and ‘Stave Peak’ bring to mind the child-like curiosity of holding a microphone up to the skies and seeing what happens. Elemental in the truest sense, coast/range/arc// is music lifted from outside the anthropocentric realm, possessive of a power we can scarcely imagine.
