John Cunnane’s dgoHn project joins Analogical Force for some tasty jungle and IDM fusions. But the genre labels don’t necessarily come that easily with Monega EP. ‘Fml22’ is an acid-soaked adrenaline rush propelled by manipulated vocals, squelching synths and a manic, skittering live drum edit. The percussive track resonates at a junglist frequency on ‘Tinsle’ alongside contrapuntal, icy pads, as ‘Rayon’ deals in breakneck bass to challenge even the quickest internal bpm. ‘Monsoon Mercenary’ brings the disparate elements of the EP to a striking DnB culmination in the classic vein, its rhythm riding the kick drop like a tamed wild horse.
