Soundman Chronicles head honcho Parris label-hops back onto The Trilogy Tapes for more altered states of bass with Polychrome Swim. Adjacent recollections of Jan Jelinek come on the somnambulant house whirl of ‘Harajuku Girls’, as a bongo rhythm opens up with sampled yelps and wavy synths, while ‘Aqua Serge’ mulls on spacious pads and a D&B break which cheekily defers the gratification of forward momentum, instead conveying abstract motions into dub directions. ‘Yūrei’ sets out on a left-field dancehall rhythm measured by a reggae-inflected rhythm and a neatly discordant chord structure.
