At the behest of the Chicago Cultural Centre, maniacally prolific composer and all-round avant-garde odd-ball Rob Mazurek assembles his Exploding Star Orchestra for the off-the-wall jazz fusion impressionism of Dimensional Stardust. Assembled from the talents of the city’s diverse avant-garde scene, the polyphony of sound that emits from this release is practically ungraspable: flutes fly, organs chime, strings pluck and percussion dashes wildly into unpredictable directions.
