Ilian Tapes bosses Dario and Marco Zenker return with more minimal techno experimentalism on their long-awaited second LP. But there hasn’t exactly been a dearth of Zenker Brothers releases lately; the road to Cosmic Transmission has been dotted with a string of dubby deep space techno micro-manifestos they refined with 2020’s Mad System. Now, their austere yet open-armed sonics reach a zenith with the sloping bass slides of ‘Intense Incense’ and the all-out cybernetic ambience of ‘Natural Connection’. Beats snake their way back into the intergalactic plateaus of ‘When Nothing Is Safe’, developing lightly acidic tones on the likes of ‘Sphere Force’.
