The music on this rather excellent compilation is called Skweee! Skwee is a musical style, from the Nordic countries of Sweden and Finland. Skweee combines simple lo-fi synth leads and basslines with funk, hip-hop r'n'b or soul-like rhythms, overall rendering a stripped-down lofi funky that reminds of Clear records output, the music of John Carpenter or the minimal funk of Grime. The tracks are mostly entirely instrumental, though there are exceptions. The producers are both newcomers and old, experienced producers from the Scandinavian Electro and electronica environment and the music on this compilation reflects a varied and rather fun take on electric funk, rendering the music round and rubbery, fresh and good.
