Left Ear Records revisit a lo-fi mutant funk masterpiece by cult Japanese musician Minoru ‘Hoodoo’ Fushimi. Originally released in 1983, this disc’s a-side ‘Hakodate Lady’ still sounds like nothing else; crunchy hand claps and a viscous synth bass punch out a rhythm that recalls the filthier sensualities of a Prince song, underpinned by Fushimi’s crackling, fuzzy yelps. The b-side ups the funk factor with a righteous slap bass.
