Pioneering UK electronic act The Black Dog still manage to innovate over 30 years into their storied career in IDM and beyond, throughout which they’ve continuously realigned the perimeters of electronic music. Fragments hits similarly to their past work on their Allegory EP series, as the members chop and change sonic shapes remotely, each member isolated from one another during the COVID-19 pandemic. Studiedly minimal builds and beats inform the rising drone of ‘Hex Collapse’ and the back-masked piano melancholia of ‘Porn Shop’, as the likes of ‘Cup Noodle’ and ‘Amberly House’ deal in strangely subterranean space music.
