Delsin Records welcome back Samuel van Dijk aka VC-118A for another glance into his cybernetic crystal ball. The electro futurist has always had the uncanny ability to enact taboos within the genre, and his innovation comes in the form of sensual minimalism with this two-track cut. ‘Crunch’ begins in classic electro territory with a propulsive 4/4 beat pushing along digitised bloops, but the noted lack of bass is replaced by synoptical textural sophistication that sounds more like sound design than underground club fodder. ‘Plonk’ too is decidedly minimal with its melodic hypnotism, showcasing a stylistic shift to dub’s spaciousness.
