All great artists have likely been toiling away at their craft long before we’ve heard their name, but RX-101 is an especially exceptional case. Suction Records begins RX’s archival series with EP 1, which features a slew of ecstatic, forward-thinking Rephlex-style numbers recorded from 1997-1999. ‘Tunnel’ heads up the selection, and sets the tone with heavy emphasis on high-end bloops and space invader bursts, while ‘Bloom (pt1)’ showcases a hint of sensitivity with a tender, music box-like melody.
