Matthew Dear sets off for further adventures in left-field dancefloor-filling mastery under his Brain moniker. The World EP is the first release we’ve seen from Dear’s new alias, and it sets out to be just as infectious and boundary-defining as any of his others. ‘Boss’ and ‘Rafe’ set out strained house leads matched by chattering four-on-the-floor rhythms, both minimal yet dense, while ‘Corrections’ and ‘Snake Head’ toy with clubbier and more bass-driven elements respectively. ‘Tantricity’ earns its luxurious title over the course of its herculean 24-minute runtime, morphing through micro house bitrates and soaked snare hits.
