Kanyalang!’s Earthbound EP delivers a collection of evocative breakbeat electronic productions that run at a variety of bpms. Earthbound kicks off at breakneck speed, with opener ‘Cosmos’ almost getting to jungle tempo while its halcyon rave sonics nod to Lone and Daniel Avery. From here the middle of Earthbound maintains the aesthetics of ‘Cosmos’ but slows things down a little in order to deliver some cracking breakbeat techno tackle. Finally, Kanyalang! closes things out with ‘It Gets Easier’, a gorgeous downtempo shuffle which provides the listener with some breathing space after all of the high-energy thrills that had preceded it.
