The early rumblings of Aix Em Klemm’s self-titled debut began when Stars of the Lid member Adam Wiltzie and Labradford member Bobby Donne proceeded to exchange tapes via mail. Each musician’s main output should give you an idea of what this side project eventually came to sound like; sweeping ambience rendered from field recordings and instruments, whisper-quiet percussive elements and a general sense of studiedly paced time-keeping. Aix Em Klemm is as expansive as a Brian Eno release, whilst still maintaining a decidedly lo-fi, almost punk attitude towards textural qualities and sonic philosophies.
