Musick To Play In The Dark
Dais Records
Catalogue Number
Release Date
November 27, 2020

Originally released in 1999 via their Chalice label - Dais records reissue this intoxicating post-industrial masterpiece from Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson and John Balance’s Coil, available for the first time in 20 years. Fully remastered audio and restored artwork for the first time on double LP under the supervision of Drew McDowall.

Quickly progressing from the years previously released Astral Disaster album, the duo recorded Musick To Play In The Dark at their Victorian home studio in Weston-super-Mare. Refocusing attention from the startling, disjointed sun fuelled gaze to nocturnal lullabies of drug induced hypnosis, introspection and ceremony. Opening track “Are You Shivering” guides the listener through the inter-dimensional cerebral corridors of the psyche before the Tangerine Dream indebted kosmische synth of Red Birds Will Fly Out Of The East And Destroy Paris In A Night takes full grip of the senses.

This is moon musick. In light of the moon. A seminal work from one of music's unparalleled visionaries.
