Long-time label friend and first-time releasee Parris debuts on Wisdom Teeth with a precious disc of amorphous house steppers fit for any post-club down-time. ‘Soft Rocks With Socks’ sets the mood at a chilled-out downtempo, recalling the softer side of rave music with ambient textures and a subdued yet funky hand percussion-lead beat. ‘Terrapin’ sees Parris teaming up with Minor Science for a wobbly groove, beset by slippery bass intonations, handclap rhythms and a synthesised lead. ‘Sabor a Ceniza’, an undeniably off-kilter funk-off textured by vocal stabs, invokes a faster bpm with its hard-to-pin-down 4/4 measure.
