Having set the surreal medieval paintings of Hieronymous Bosch to music on 2019’s Garden of Earthly Delights, Norwegian singer-songwriter-pianist Susanna turns to another artist-muse fascinated with the gutter for Baudelaire & Piano. Composed for solo piano and vocal, Baudelaire & Piano sees Susanna exploring the turgid fantasies and unspeakable desires of the French poet’s writings to the intimate tune of her instrument, bringing to mind Joni Mitchell at her most formally and minimally playful.
