Phil Ventre, mastermind behind London Modular Alliance, lands on Censor with a disc of minimal electro straight from the deepest reaches of space. Glass Cannon EP launches with the crisp beat of its title track, steadily careening with dubby bass slugs and a swirling background synth, as Censor head Alex Jann crunches up the drums on his Corrupt Data mix. Side 2 breaks the stylistic mould with adventurous beats and a hint of club-mindedness. ‘Mom’s Knife’ is punctured by surprise stabs, as ‘Super Hang On’ bobs between revving bass and final boss fight vibes, while ‘Low Swung’ earns its title with its sloping drum rhythm.
