Swedish artist Sven Wunder returns with his second LP on Piano Piano. Indebted to Japanese artistic practices — as well as traditional Japanese instrumentation — Wabi Sabi is what you might call a ‘Ukiyo-e’ album; snapshots of everyday phenomena, suspended. The funk-heavy jazz rock of ‘Hot Winds Arrive’ and ‘Bamboo & Rock’ invokes the heat and weight of their namesakes, while the wily piano phrases of ‘Blanket Fog Descends’ seamlessly melds stillness and movement.
