While Glaswegian producer Pub’s recorded output has been voluminous in the intervening years, ‘Summer’ represents an artist who was always buzzed on his own sonic creations. Originally released in 2000, right around the time of his Do You Regret Pantomime? LP, the 16-minute track drifts between the spaces of IDM, ambient and dub-techno, gently building from beat-less ethereal tones to a chattering, hazy rhythm occasionally punctuated by bursts of colour. The flip-side boasts a brand new track, ‘Fragile Root’, as a sleepily restless, ambient-era AFX-inspired counterpoint to the sun-stroked a-side.
