Best known for composing the moving 8-bit modifications on 2018’s sleeper video game hit Celeste, Lena Raine returns to Local Action for a remix and reinterpretation of her debut release Oneknowing. Reknowing sees Raine giving free rein to some stellar co-producers in reimagining her work. D’Anthony Wooten transforms ‘Tsukuyomi’ into a ring-modulated trip hop swagger, while Anastasia Kristensen dramatically re-centres the rhythmic core of ‘Trance State’ into a punchy, percussive techno joint. Don’t think of this as an improvement of Raine’s original; think of it as testimony to her profound influence on the landscape of video game music.
