Having cut his teeth as the world’s strangest hip-hop producer on the 2019 Aesop Rock collaboration Malibu Ken, the singular psychedelic mind of Black Moth Super Rainbow Tom Fec returns to his TOBACCO moniker for a solo LP on Ghostly International. Hot Wet & Sassy is every bit as pop-minded as any other TOBACCO release — just listen to the likes of ‘Centaur Skin’ and ‘ASS-TO-TRUTH’ — but now the oozing, digitised syrup and the perennially mutated auto-tuned vocals of his signature sound has become further oxidised by touches of electronic and industrial rock, a facet tersely illustrated by the presence of Trent Reznor on ‘Babysitter’.
