It’s business as usual for Toronto outfit METZ as they return with their fourth LP of heavy, jagged noise rock. That said, Atlas Vending is yet another testimony to the fact METZ have always been difficult to pin down. ‘Blind Youth Industrial Park’ and ‘Hail Taxi’ simultaneously channel the fury of DIY hardcore and the cerebral, considered chaos of Sonic Youth, all while propping up some of METZ’s most anthemic choruses to date. It’s a potent combination of elemental factors; a perfect storm of stimuli which makes METZ at once archivists of rock’s past and tireless dreamers of its future.
